ACTIVITY
Activity is being waived this month since there wasn't much going on—that's changing come February! In addition, next month the activity method's changing to one in which you will be required to reply to a monthly post with your qualifying thread(s) by the last day. February, though, and more deets to come then.PLOT
A new NPC is here, and he's a bit... off. No, no, I don't think it's his awful lute playing. Whatever could it be... Well, anyway, maybe you should tell him to take some lessons, or get some information out of him?Rather than make a new post, I figured I'd take advantage of the mingle as it were!
INFLUENCES FROM YOUR CHARACTER'S WORLD
Want parts of your character's world/life/MEMORIES to show up in Kingdom Daze in various forms? Then go over here and leave a comment! I don't... really have a form because I'm not quite sure what to expect, but! Hopefully that post will guide you a bit. After this upcoming labyrinth, a large part of the world will develop from the adventures that entail and, if you've commented to the post by then, you could see parts of your character's life turning up there, too...! AND MAYBE YOU WON'T BE STUCK IN TENTS ANYMORE!
UPCOMING LABYRINTH
A cracky RPG-esque labyrinth in which characters will be randomly assigned ~unique classes~ and go on an ~adventure~. Fighting WILL be a thing, but if your character can't fight (I think most of your characters can fight?!) you'll get weird magic/skills anyway. And because fighting isn't ALWAYS the answer, you'll have other options, too, so hey. This labyrinth will be run from January 20th to January 27th... which is to say, as long as you jump in sometime during those days, even if it's on, like, the 23rd, you're good. I will actually be cutting things off and wrapping things up by the 27th though!
You guys can sign-up as little parties, OR play alone, but play in parties have antics that's funner.
...I. I feel like the announcement should be longer? THANK YOU ALL FOR BEING SUPER AWESOME, I wish I could bake you all cookies and send them your ways. But, to be honest, if I had to pick cookies, it'd be no-bakes, I have so much oatmeal.
+1 tiny keyblade kid

Hi everyone! My name is Kuma and I'm bringing Ventus (or Ven) from Kingdom Hearts! I'm really excited to play him; I usually play Sora instead so having a new character is really exciting! That being said, I'm excited to play with all of you as well. Just a little bit about me: I work full time and go to grad school so I try to tag every other day, so I hope I'll be able to keep up!

ANNOUNCEMENT: A MOVE BRINGING CHANGES
Dec. 19th, 2015 06:17 am![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
That's right—you're not going to be in Port Perplex much longer. There are Big Plans for you labyrinth explorers outside of this dinky maritime town, all courtesy of the Scout Leader's latest discovery. In addition, there will be changes to the worldbuilding that is hopefully fun and neat!
To help explain this impending move and what follows, I've gone ahead and just laid the information out like a FAQ.
◆ Why is this move taking place?
IC REASON: The Scout Leader's noticed something... fishy about the most recent releases from the labyrinths. The forest that was returned is much thicker than it's ever been after that "sad door died in a forest" labyrinth. The beach is now oddly tropical when it certainly wasn't of that nature after that "awful no-good experience on the sinking ship" labyrinth. Even though this is all incredibly trivial, and even though she doesn't actually know of what went on in those labyrinths, none of that's the same as she remembers it!
The Scout Leader has a hunch, one that's reaching but not completely unfounded: these labyrinths aren't just releasing things, they're recreating them with their own influences. However, with Port Perplex, it was already a developed area that didn't need much "recreating" before you guys arrived. The labyrinths didn't steal very much from this maritime town, so things just needed "fixed,", such as the lake needing refilled, the forest needing regrown, and the ocean needing restored. Things of that nature.
The way to see if her theory is truly true? Go to an area that has almost nothing to it anymore, explore the abundance of labyrinths beneath it, and see if THESE labyrinths can change the land above it as drastically as she expects—perhaps even hopes. And though the Scout Leader doesn't realize it yet, the explorers will wind up affecting the outcomes in unexpected ways as well—they might discover that some of the growth caused by the labyrinths are reminiscent of their home world!
OOC REASON: It's a chance to introduce some new worldbuilding elements: eradicated labyrinths actually becoming part of the kingdom in the end, AND characters leaving unique touches on the outcome in a way that reflects their own home world and/or themself. In addition, along the way we're looking to introduce some fantasy elements, play up the magic of this world, and get creative with the way things turn up, too! So, to sum it up, your character's actions? Perhaps just their straight-up existence in the labyrinths? Will affect the literal growth and development of the kingdom. And to tack it on, since it's relevant, we'll also allow for events and player-directed action/plots to affect the kingdom, too!
The intention is to allow for your character to have an everlasting effect on this kingdom—the opportunity for them to give this kingdom their own special touch for everyone to witness in the time to come. Furthermore, the true sense that this wouldn't have turned out the way it had without them.
◆ When will this move OOCly take place?
The posts officiating the move into the new area will go up on January 3rd, Sunday! I wanted to hold off on pushing for this in December since a) terrible labyrinth just happened and hurt a lot of characters so it's a bit impractical to have it suddenly happen and b) DECEMBER IS HOLIDAYS AND FAMILY AND BUSY MONTH FOR MANY OF US! Also, it's best not to rush this kind of thing in the first place!
◆ What will this new area be like?
It doesn't have a name, at least, for the time being—hmm, perhaps the explorers can come together and give it one?
Upon your arrival, this area is truly one that's been laid bare; all that remains are worn ruins, dust and ash, some rocks, a very big rock... things of this nature, set up in a way that might give you the impression that this was once a giant city. And even though it does vaguely reflect what it used to be, the ruins here won't exactly be an "outline" for things to come since it is, after all, the labyrinths and the explorers who will shape the outcome of this area.
For a short while, everone will be staying in a base camp (with Special tents ranging between modest and luxurious) that'll provide them with enough necessities until things start kicking off... which shouldn't be long. Interestingly enough, it's worth noting that the rewards you earn from exploring the labyrinths over here will be a bit more plentiful, and maybe even sometimes useful, too. Wow!!
At first, the area will seem small. Some parts of the area will be inaccessible, or troublesome to access to say the least. Over time, it's possible for this area to grow and change drastically in part to 1) the labyrinths you eradicate releasing parts of itself and/or things of its own influence into the kingdom (much like before, only directly associated with the labyrinth that was run this time), and 2) your own characters inadvertently leaving marks on the land through elements of their home and the like.
◆ How will the ways that characters can affect the development be handled?
By the end December we'll have an info-gathering post where everyone will be STRONGLY ENCOURAGED to reply to it at some point! Otherwise, if you never reply to this post, stuff from your world won't come up because I probably don't know your character's world and won't have any idea of what you'd hope/expect to see turn up. Such elements can range from landmarks, biomes, building aesthetic, near carbon-copies of specific locations from your home world, flora/fauna, symbolism/motifs/aesthetics/icons showing up, among any other elements unique or strongly associated with your character's home world that you can think of. It's all the more fun when characters can recognize this stuff! Oh, and being able to take creative liberty with these factors when applicable, without causing it to become unidentifiable, is a thing I also look forward to!
These developments will take place after labyrinths, exactly how releases/unlocks have been handled so far. The outcomes will always be rather large, so there's allowance for numerous things to happen at once (it'll usually be tied together in some way.) After a labyrinth's eradication you'll see both the influence of the labyrinth AND the characters at the same time. Let me make up an example on the fly: a jungle labyrinth causes a chunk of the jungle to erupt from the ground, and within its dark core is a part of the city that looks like a street from X's world and has Y's favorite animals wandering around, and Z's—... etc and so forth. Sometimes it'll all be focused in one area; other times it might be wider-spread. Additionally, we'll be taking into consideration who has, and who hasn't, left their mark most recently to keep things fair as developments take place, though there might be exceptions when the outcome of a labyrinth would loan itself really well to something from X's world even though they recently had an effect on a previous outcome as well. WE'LL TRY TO PLAY IT PRETTY FAIR WHILE KEEPING THINGS IN CHECK HERE!
◆ Wait, does this mean that I can run a labyrinth and determine how it can shape the kingdom??
YES! Players have always been allowed to take the rein and run labyrinths, and now they can decide how their labyrinth can affect the game in the large run! On the tangent of "things players can do to affect the game beyond running labyrinths and playing their characters," I'm also considering the idea of player-run spirit NPCs who want to make a Change one way or another, is strongly associated with an emotion, is perhaps confined to the locational outcome of a labyrinth, could take further action to introduce additional changes to the area by making characters do things, can help characters out in numerous ways in exchange for favors/etc, probably have powers/abilities that they can loan to a character or two if they meet a certain standard, and requires certain things to be done by characters in order for them to be "released" from this state of being—which they may or may not desire in the first place—but I don't know if there's interest for anything like this. SO, IF YOU HAVE INTEREST AT ALL IN SEEING THIS HAPPEN, GIVE ME A HEY!
◆ Are the characters going to be the only ones in this new area?
Not necessarily—the Scouts, who have been responsible for uncovering the labyrinths off-screen, will be joining them, and in play they'll be much like the townsfolk. There aren't many Scouts—just around a dozen of them—but you might see them out and about, doing their own thing. Still, it might come to feel like the characters are the only ones here at times. As things progress, you'll come to see townsfolk taking up residence here, too.
Furthermore, the Scout Leader will actually be here, so if you've ever wanted to address her, or use her to get in direct contact with the Queen, it's something that can easily be arranged now (since before they had been nearly inaccessible!)
Oh, and there's some mysterious person who seems to currently reside here as well...? I should mention that, yes.
◆ So, uh, how long is the new area going to be just "ruins and dirt and rocks?"
NOT TERRIBLY LONG! I mean, it's not going to all change overnight, but I plan to run a labyrinth the weekend following the move in order to get things underway. I promise this labyrinth will not be traumatic. Or dark. Or mean. It will probably be kind of nice!
IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS, SHOOT AWAY! When the move takes place, I'll have more information ready for you guys by then (though it'll mostly be additional details stacked upon what I've already said here). However, if you'd like for me to address anything else beforehand, or anything specific, or you're just really curious about something, please feel free to ask! Whether it's by commenting to this post, sending a private plurk the game plurk, sending a private plurk to my PERSONAL plurk, pinging me somewhere I can see, emailing kingdoms.dazed.mods at gmail, OR WHATEVER! Never hesitate to ask questions!
As always, thank you guys for being super awesome! ♥

Summery Festivities Event
Dec. 11th, 2015 12:41 am![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
The ocean, and the beach by association, has become very tropical and beautiful thanks to your efforts of eradicating of that awful labyrinth! We're talking palm trees, clear water, soft sand—the works. The townsfolk are all very excited about this development, and hey—perhaps you are, too. Don't worry, the info pages will be shortly updated to reflect these changes.
So, through the entire (remaining...) month of December, and perhaps some of January, there will be...

Every day, and every time of the day. You don't need to keep this stuff confined to a single "event" post in order to take part either! Your employer should be giving you a paid vacation during this event... but I wouldn't be surprised if they have you carry out some things every now and again to monopolize the festivities. Still, maybe you'll get lucky and dodge their work, especially if you're injured or shell-shocked from that labyrinth! Good grief, I really hope your boss isn't making you work...
Some particular things you'll notice in Port Perplex during this month:
** the Sand Sculpture Contest is pretty subjective, but comment TO THIS COMMENT HEADER HERE over the course of month with your character's threads in which they make a sand thing in order to be judged for the prize of some fashionable, yet oddly useful, sunglasses. EVERYONE who participates will receive a commemorative beach towel that will be tailored to Suit Them. I will be very creative when handing these out. (⊙◡⊙)
LITTLE ANNOUNCEMENT: I added a thing to the IC Community sidebar (that I might also add to the OOC Community sidebar, I'm not sure yet) that pertains to each month! It'll be much more applicable and useful in January, I promise. For now—this month—it's very simple! And since I'm on the subject, sort of, from here on out I'll have an event of some shape or form take place every month, to help keep things happening outside of labyrinths. Some will be goal-oriented, some will be laidback like this, and some might weigh a bit more on the plotty side with various levels of involvement to go around.
BIG, BIG ANNOUNCEMENT: This is the last month (or so) that your characters will be spending in Port Perplex! Which is to say, they'll soon be moving on to a different area in the kingdom! Along the way there will be some changes, hopefully for the better, to help make everyone feel like they're leaving their very own impression on Kingdom Daze! I didn't know how busy the holiday seasons would be for everyone, otherwise I'd start on it sooner, but! Expect a proper announcement regarding this and the stuff it entails in another week or so. There will also be a relevant plotty post or two along the way for characters to tag into since there ARE some IC reasons involved in this sudden decision, you see!!
As always, thank you, players, for your patience and being super rad and awesome, I mean it, gosh. YOU ALL ARE SUPER DUPER SWELL IN ALL SERIOUSNESS. ;u;
So, through the entire (remaining...) month of December, and perhaps some of January, there will be...

Every day, and every time of the day. You don't need to keep this stuff confined to a single "event" post in order to take part either! Still, maybe you'll get lucky and dodge their work, especially if you're injured or shell-shocked from that labyrinth! Good grief, I really hope your boss isn't making you work...
Some particular things you'll notice in Port Perplex during this month:
★ The Healing Sun*: It's really ridiculously hot. In fact, staying indoors will just make everything seem all the more stuffy and stagnant than it should be, so staying outside, in the shade or cool water, will feel like a blessing. If you have injuries, you'll find that the heat outside isn't too overwhelming for you—in fact, staying in the sun will make the healing process go faster, and things won't hurt quite as bad as they do! Recovery like photosynthesis? Sure! It won't grow back ears or hair, but it's definitely not making anything worse. If you're lucky, you won't get a sunburn along the way.* the Healing Sun's recovery rate is up to YOU. Maybe your character's wounds will heal up over the course of the day while they're outside. Maybe you've decided that their wounds aren't healing any faster than usual (which is still pretty fast compared to real life), but the pain is absolutely unnoticeable. Either way, this is up for you to toy with as you please. Again, it only applies if your character is actually outside, so if your character holes them up inside in their stagnant room, unless they're sitting by the window, it won't affect them like this.
★ Letters Under Your Door: Over the course of the next several days—whether you explored the most recent labyrinth or not—you'll find letters slid, or even stuffed, under the door of your room at the inn. No, you don't seem to have a mailbox... and you never seem to see anyone putting them there either, though you might hear footsteps. Really, I'd just attribute that to bad timing. Anyway, they've all been handwritten, with each letter thanking you for your help, expressing admiration, and indicating how much they appreciate your efforts. There's might be some creative touches here and there, like a crayon stick figure of what is PROBABLY you, or even... some awkward love confessions? Uhhhh-huh... yep.
★ Sunken Ship: Weird—a sunken ship lies against the outermost edge of boulder beach, as though it wrecked overnight. A white flag, torn and battered, waves from the mast. An investigation will prove it doesn't seem anything like the ship you might have been held captive on—the layout is much different, and it won't seem very familiar to you. In addition, the ship looks as though it's been here for ages! Algae here, woodrot there. There are two levels below deck. On the top level, where light somehow filters through in rainbow rays, you can uncover crates and barrels containing nothing but bottled rum. Rum never goes bad, my friend. On the lowest level, which is half submerged in water, you'll find that's it's dark and cool, and seems like an enclosed pond. From the water, a music box plays a gentle tune. It's hard to figure out what song that is... but you might uncover that the tiny, rainbow angelfish swimming around are the actual source of the music. Each one is responsible for a note, and altogether they create a single song.
★ Instant Changing Tents: Along the beach are little changing tents. The kind that are tall, narrow, and striped with cute colors. If you waltz into one of the changing tents set up on the beach, even out of pure curiosity, you'll come out wearing a swimming outfit! What about the clothes you were just wearing? Oh, yeah, those are back in your room, folded up nicely on the bed. I guess that was oddly thoughtful of the changing tent... The changing tent is unlikely to dress you in something that'd make you uncomfortable (because even this tent has some respective boundaries!), but it might dress you in something you'd never actually CHOOSE to wear. Like, socks with sandals. Or tacky sunglasses. Maybe a nice pair of shorts that incidentally show off a scar you never meant for anyone to see. On the other hand, it could give you a Dream Swim Outfit that completely flatters and suits you, and that'd be nice, too!
★ Magic(?) Treat Stands: There are stands along the beach selling ice cream, popcicles, and special sparklers! There's a large variety of flavors to pick from. Chocolate, vanilla... wait, green bean ice cream? Pumpernickel popcicles mixed in with the orange flavored ones? It seems like there are some very STRANGE flavors, too! Though it's not mentioned anywhere, if you eat one of these treats while talking to someone, you might say something very honest without even realizing it! At night, these very stands will start selling sparklers. They come in different colors, sometimes even rainbow? The interesting thing here is that any message you write in the air with them will actually hover there for a while. Whether you genuinely want to leave wicked trails for people to follow, or you just enjoy seeing your name in faux neon lights, it's sure to provide some amusement.
★ Nightly Fireworks/Bonfires: Every night there will be fireworks and bonfires! Fortunately, this scares off the monsters from the beach since, you know, nighttime is known for the weird beasts that come out. Anyway, the townsfolk will handle the fireworks, however, they're more than eager to give you some if you ask! Sometimes these fireworks will explode into shapes or messages (and if you're the one setting them off, you'll find it easy to make it say/depict something in particular.) Bonfires will also be set-up, logs and all, but you'll have to light them yourselves. Thankfully, the nights are still rather cool, and the smoke will keep noisy mosquitoes away while you sit around and tell stories or roast things.
★ Encouraging Shells: The beach will be decorated with pretty little sea shells that are all very unique and naturally glimmering. Interestingly enough, you'll find that some whisper if you hold them up to your ears (it might be oddly tempting to do so!) It might be the voice of someone you know from home—friend, colleague, family. It might just be your own voice! They would be whispering words of wisdom that you need, or gently reassuring you with things you need to hear, or perhaps words of love or promise. Even if you've never heard them say this, or you didn't think they'd say this, it certainly seems like they're saying it. There's also the off-chance that this shell will play a soothing song you've always enjoyed. Each shell is different, but each one will repeat that thing over and over like a tape player, so it's also possible to keep it and/or allow someone to listen in on your message. Maybe you want to collect as many encouraging shells as you can find?
★ Sand Sculpture Contest**: There's a large banner indicating that a sand-sculpting contest is underway. So far, the participants, young and old, aren't any good at making sand sculptures of anything—you might seriously have a shot here. It seems like you're allowed to use tools, such as buckets, and all you have to do is make something out of sand, be it a castle or your gorgeous visage. The prize? A pair of Really Cool Stylish Sunglasses that allow you to see in the dark. A little contradictory, but hey! Everyone who participates gets a beach towel that is described as receiving your "special touch." I guess you'll have to wait and see what that means when the winner's announced...
★ Rude Seagulls: Sometimes very rude seagulls will swoop down and shout offensive things at you. "You're hopeless!" or "Eat my ass!" seems to be some of the most popular phrases, but they're very creative, and undoubtedly crude, so I wouldn't be surprised if anything else came out of their mouths—uh, beaks. If you manage to knock one of these jerks out of the sky, and you actually decided to eat it, you'll find that they taste salty. If you try but FAIL to take one out, they'll start circling you and getting more specific with their insults, relaying things that they shouldn't even know, down to your deepest insecurity. You might need some help with them at that point. Sheesh.
As always, thank you, players, for your patience and being super rad and awesome, I mean it, gosh. YOU ALL ARE SUPER DUPER SWELL IN ALL SERIOUSNESS. ;u;
ANNOUNCEMENT
Nov. 24th, 2015 11:47 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
Housing/job/etc stuff is briefly on hold because I'm considering some things relating to the grand-scheme of the game setting, which has lead into OTHER things! There's more than Port Perplex! There might be things the Queen hasn't come out and said yet! Anyway, sorry about that, guys. To make up for it, here's a labyrinth:
A piratey sinking ship exploradora?? labyrinth this weekend—in which your character might be seriously maimed or die. Actually, it's very likely. If you do not want your character to get hurt AT ALL or not die AT ALL, then this is probably not the labyrinth for you, my friend. Some warnings:
• Drowning could be a thing.
• Torture might be a thing.
• You might be put in a position where the life of your Labyrinth Buddy(/ies) is in your hands!
• BASICALLY ANY TERRIBLE THINGS THAT CAN COME FROM PLAYING PIRATES ON A SINKING SHIP!
• In fact, if you want to see a certain horrible thing happen, tell me in your sign-up later. wink. ;-)
Any death or injury that comes of this labyrinth will suck. The dead will not be revived ~instantly~ without injury; it will be a hellish experience that could possibly traumatize them—your mileage may vary, of course. However, injuries and the like will all be reduced to "less than critical" depending on how you want to deal with that, unless you do want your character to bleed to death after the labyrinth or something. WHO KNOWS! That being said, sign-ups will also involve a survey in which you tell me how awful you'd like for this labyrinth to be for your character. Please keep your Labyrinth Buddy in mind. I mean, seriously, talk it over with them, too, in case there's anything specific either would like to avoid.
Anyway, this will be running from 11/28 3PM EST - 12/02. Handwave option will be available in case you don't wind up tossing your character in, but want to have said they were maimed to hell and back.

OH YEAH I FORGOT TO POST IN HERE

Isn't she pretty?
Hi, I'm Silas, and I have brought in the Savior herself, Lightning Farron. She's set at almost end game (as in just after the long monologue with Bhunivelze that went on for a solid ten minutes almost). She's got a temper, powerful magic and attacks, and can't take a compliment.
Oh, and she's got the Angel of Valhalla, a white, Gran Pulse style chocobo as her companion.
You can reach me at

I feel I should apologize but too excited to care. Hello kids, my name is Timmy and I'll be bringing in Yuri Lowell from Tales of Vesperia. He's a terrible main character who often trolls his team mates and does reckless things while pretending to be a lone wolf. He's awful. Really.
Please be gentle. If you need to reach me, I am at

UPDATES ON THE NATUREY-DEATH LABYRINTH
also known as Sad Door Labyrinth.
Sign-ups have been frozen and I've tossed up a handwave option for those who didn't play but want to SAY their character was totally there. If you're still playing in the labyrinth, you're fine! I'll keep running you! However, if—after another day or two—your character's still a ways off from leaving, we'll work with you to figure out how they leave! I don't want your character to be stuck there, especially since things are happening after the labyrinth. I don't want for anyone to feel like they can't tag future things due to a hold-up!
FOREST EVENT(?)
It might not seem like much at first, but Somebody is having a fit the forest. Does it have anything to do with that door labyrinth? Maybe. I mean, yes. In spite of that, feel free to check this out even if you didn't play in the labyrinth—it's still relevant to you! This NPC can be Dangerous... but this will all depend on your interactions with her.
PLAYER-RUN POST > MINGLE POSTS
I used that as a header since I couldn't come up with a short enough sentence, JUST LIKE A NEWSPAPER!
We'd really like to encourage more player-run posts as opposed to aimless mingles! "Wait, mod... aren't you the one who tosses up those very mingles?" ...yes... it is me. i am the culprit!! Haha, anyway, this isn't to discourage mingle posts, because they can still be useful—in fact, I have quite a few ideas for themed/focused mingles, which is my intention for any future mingles that I post! That said, I think character-run posts, whether you co-run it with someone or not, would be cool to see more of! And a lot better than mingles all of the time. The game is small, so it might just be better to make our own posts here and there.
SLIGHTLY RELATED: just as a note, we'd like for there to be at least 3 posts taking place on an IC day before moving onto the next day... like, so far 4 posts have taken place on Day 100, so I'm just going to make my next post take place on Day 100, too, or just move along to Day 101—OR only 1 post has taken place on Day 205 so my next post will take place on Day 205, too. Now, exceptions apply if it's been a while since the last post.... BY THE WAY, nobody's done anything wrong to warrant this! But I might toss this on the sidebar by the posting form since it's a decent(??) reference to go off of.
ACTIVITY
Spicing up the activity requirement! Each month we'll require the usual 20 comments across 1-3 threads OR!! (co-)Run a post. So naw, activity hasn't gotten stricter or anything, it's just become a bit more versatile, I hope!
COMING SOON: VOLUNTARY HOUSING REASSIGNMENTS
So! Turns out that you explorers have improved Port Perplex quite a bit already! Like, yeah, okay, the ocean is still ugly, and who KNOWS what is going on up there on Tier 3, but... YOU'VE BROUGHT THE FOREST BACK! And apparently a tourist's dream is visiting a beach town... in order to hang out in the forest. Who'd've guessed. Where are these rumored tourists coming from exactly?
Anyway, this means that the inn keeper? Needs more rooms for these tourists. And you explorers? Are taking up the rooms... yeah, I'll stop talking like Lyle from Animal Crossing and get to the point: in addition, the townsfolk have been officially convinced that you ARE actually, in fact, worthy explorers who are worth their time, so now they're all too willing to loan you some property!
Your character can continue to stay at the inn (which will have some improvements and perks) OR get in on a townhouse sort of deal (with its own perks) in which they share it with someone(s)! There will be an IC mechanic involved that will allow characters to choose who to live with, OR assign characters to live with anyone they wouldn't actually choose to live with, and you all just think it'd be funny to make them live together.
That said, more info to come! This will happen/become available next Tuesday (unless the event drags on significantly longer than that—I'll keep you updated on that as it comes) as part of an open "customize-your-place" event of sorts! ...I'm just really bad at labeling things, let me just accept this and move things along.
ALSO COMING SOON: CREATING YOUR OWN JOBS
You're really, really good-looking, so why are you stuck working at the library when you should follow your heart and somehow model? Or you don't want to work at the garrison, you want to help out by some other means that I'm not sure of. Not to mention, business in Port Perplex is booming... more than usual, so you might see some other businesses popping up here and there that'd be more worthwhile than whatever you're currently doing.
SO... you can make up your OWN job! Soon.
Now, the main businesses will still be a thing! Your character can still work there, and some of the plotty things will still refer to them (like how you might have found a bakery punch card in the first room of the labyrinth.) However, if you wanted to say your character worked at a very particular shop that you make up for them to work at, like a clock shop or a tea shop, you most certainly can! And it doesn't have to be a shop. Maybe you want to make your character a tour guide who tries to take every newbie explorer and tourist on a tour around the area. Suit yourself!
Anyway, more info on this also around the time of the... goodness, do i have to say it, ok, the: "customize-your-place" thing!.
I think that's all, for the time being. If you have any questions, feel free to ask! Comments are also accepted!

Hello everyone!! I'm Michelle and I'm new to this game and style of RP, so bear with me while I gather myself. Anyway! I'm bringing in Aqua from the Kingdom Hearts series. She'll be fresh from the realm of darkness so bear with her a little bit.
Other than that, I'm super pumped to be here, and I can be contacted at

LABRYINTH(?) ANNOUNCEMENT
Nov. 9th, 2015 05:22 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
I'm still working out the details of the discussion post (which you're still allowed to comment to!), but until then...
From November, Friday the 13th to Monday the 16th is a small labyrinth(??) sort of thing! It's going to be a little plot relevant, and there will be an Additional Outcome of this labyrinth a little different from the others and could possibly be a bit more plot relevant than the labyrinth itself.
It's an exploradora involving NATURE and OLD THINGS. Also, DEATH is a prominent theme. There will PROBABLY be SOME FIGHTING! If you can't fight at all, there will be a strategical thing that will allow you to get away safely, if you want. It won't be anything as complicatedly long as the DARING labyrinth. But, if you become invested, there will be a hidden item that you can find in the labyrinth that will allow you to ~continue~ this labyrinth another time in a separate run! If that makes sense!
Anyway, exploring with a group (of at least 1 other person, 2 is fine, 3 is okay but only if you all keep in touch and keep things rolling together) is highly encouraged. I cannot guarantee that you will have the same experience if you explore it alone—in fact, I REALLY ADVISE AGAINST IT!
Feel free to use this post to kind of get an idea on who your character should explore with if you need to, that's okay!

DISCUSSION POST
Nov. 3rd, 2015 04:54 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
Hello! Modly Mod is here to open a discussion about the game! Don't worry, Kingdom Daze is okay. I do, however, have some concerns, because I really want to make this a game that's enjoyable for everyone! Or well, pleasing everyone is impossible, but CLOSE to everyone!! I would also like to disclose that I'm not sure how to voice/word some of my concerns, so some of it may be WAY TOO BLUNT, and some of it might be like "??? okay what are you getting at??" Not that this is an excuse for any confusion caused by the sentences I've strung together, but it is an explanation of sorts.
The bolded list(?) below isn't necessarily THINGS THAT MUST CHANGE! But are topic ideas and things I have been worrying about.
• It feels like the game drags outside of labyrinths. More specifically, a labyrinth happens—then the game comes to a dead crawl until the next labyrinth happens. The idea is for Daze to be kiiiind of Slice of Life with labyrinths every so often. Is there anything you think that would make this more enjoyable? I realize that slice of life in which characters are trying to build their lives might be hard to achieve since characters might feel like they're just on a "long business trip" here.
• I think we should encourage more player-run posts as opposed to constant mingles. I don't want to say "discourage" mingle posts, since from time to time they're great to have in place! But I realize that, for a game this small, a constant slew of mingles might not be working out well. Would there, or could there, be an incentive to running your own post? But, maybe from time to time, we should do specific mingles, like inn antics, or??
• Is the IC day/time system causing frustration or confusion? The game itself has a slow pace, so I wonder if the progress of time should be handled differently? Maybe there should be an official sidenote of "every post made must linearly progress from morning -> day -> evening -> (optional night)" or? Something I haven't thought of?
• How should jobs be handled? Are they okay? Should characters be allowed to make their own "job" doing whatever they want? Should I expand on the existing businesses, such as adding a newspaper/report thing? I came up with the business ideas for those who draw blanks with this kind of thing. However, what if there are people who knows and understands what they'd like for their character to do! Like, for instance, say your character is a good singer; instead of being made to work at a business, they just do their thing? It can also be silly: a character, with no drawing ability, is suddenly an artist who must go around drawing nature, the other characters, and other things they see. JUST PULLING THINGS OUT OF THIN AIR HERE! A "job office' could be ~created~ to encourage characters to follow their own flow.
• Should something be done with the characters' residence? Is everyone staying in their own room at the inn okay the way it is? Should characters be made to room with each other? 2 to a room, 3 to a room, more?! Or are individual rooms okay? Right now it's one person to a room, unless they voluntarily share a bed (or... the floor.) The town also hopes to expand since more of its land is regrowing; should groups of characters share little houses like tiny dorms? (At the very least, this is something I've sort of considered for the next town...! But maybe that's not a good idea?)
• Progressing Actual Plot Things? I've definitely slowed down with the NPCs, mostly speaking of the Queen and the Scout Leader. Would people like to see the plot kicking into ACTUAL GEAR, or is plot not very relevant to your interests? It's okay either way!
• Labyrinths you'd like to see? I know that, personally speaking, I'm going to try to run more pair/group exploradoras that aren't STRICTLY exploradoras but have explorey qualities and activities for the characters...? It's hard to explain, but they won't be as extensive as that DARING!! labyrinth I did a while ago. I really enjoy the idea of having characters engage with each other one way or another while ~exploring~ things.
OR ANYTHING ELSE THAT NEEDS DISCUSSED? Is something I haven't brought up not okay? Is the way some things handled rather careless, like for instance, a different system for scheduling labyrinths? Do you have suggestions that are out of the ballpark, such as something very new or different or something that'd make an interesting addition? The basis behind Kingdom Daze is that it's kind of RPG-like. More specifically, it's inspired by Meikyuu (Make You!) Kingdom, a TRPG that handles thing in a tongue-in-cheek way and encourages the party to rebuild a kingdom by exploring the weird labyrinths. That wasn't meant to sound like a "CHEEKY, FRIENDLY REMINDER!11" but instead as a "With that in mind, there's a lot that can be addressed!" sorta thing.
EVERY BIT OF INPUT ABOUT ANYTHING RELATED TO KINGDOM DAZE IS APPRECIATED FROM ANYONE HERE! Say what you like, say what you don't like, SAY BOTH! Criticism is welcome! Hit some things hard if you have to! Even if you haven't played in a long time, or you only play for the labyrinths, you can join in. My MAIN concern here is: is there anything that can be done to make play OUTSIDE of the labyrinths interesting? This game would be nothing without its players, and while there's no fear of Kingdom Daze disappearing, I do want to make sure nothing about this game is frustrating or troublesome if it can be helped...!

This game would be nothing without its players, and while there's no fear of Kingdom Daze disappearing, I do want to make sure nothing about this game is frustrating or troublesome if it can be helped...!

Hello Denizens!
I apologize for not keeping up as well as I should have with the morality(?) labyrinth, and it did turn out to be more intensive than some players were able to keep up with themselves, so I am including a handwave option for people to quickly know what to happen to wrap-up their run with complete details below:
( You are the Ruler of the Kingdom of... )
If you weren't able to have a run, or will be unable to finish what you have, you can go ahead and comment to this post with the choices you'd have made for each round. If you're wrapping up an incomplete run, just mention which choices you'd have already made.

Hello everyone!
Remember that morality labyrinth I was hoping to do? Well, I finally found time to claim it!
I will run the labyrinth from Saturday, October 10th to Saturday, October 17th. Each character will be alone in their own room making decisions, however other characters will be aware of what choices were made even if they won't be given a clear connection as to who made them. Do assume that it's something that could be figured out though, in case this is something that would be a dealbreaker for you.
The chance of physical harm is there as well as death, but characters will not die without OOC consent, so you must comment here to opt-in to EMBRACE DEATH. Characters will still have a chance to ICly opt-in, but there's a system in place to prevent that if there's no OOC opt-in so it's super important to let me know. The chance of death is still affected by multiple factors and is not super likely (and hey, maybe no-one will die after all), but as it's there I would like to make sure no-one gets surprised murdered.

HALLOWEENIE BOARD GAME LABYRINTH
Sep. 30th, 2015 07:30 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
Aw yes, from 10/21 - 10/31 I will be running a board game-esque labyrinth! It's going to be silly and spoopy as opposed to straight-up horror. However, if your character has some very common fears, it might be a little scary. But it's mostly silly and dumb; take into consideration that your character will be made to wear a Halloween costume (of your choosing) for the duration of this board game.
DURATION: Though it will last 10 days, that's mostly to allow players the time and space they need to respond without feeling rushed. Some of us have tight schedules, and some of us have timezone minority... so you won't be anticipated to do extensive participation every single day to progress at a reasonable pace, as the time is there for your convenience! This is also an experiment to see how we can handle group progression without it stressing the players involved, so I'll take the things we learn from it to improve in the future!
PROGRESS: In order to move onto the next space, which will involve a die roll, each character will need to take part in the action in some shape or form! If the majority have completed a space, but they're waiting on one other character to finish and it's been a long while, we will allow everyone to progress to the next space! HOWEVER, you will still be able to backtag and play with the previous space! For this reason, I strongly encourage everyone to open their loving arms and embrace backtagging.
TIME: If you think you have to join late, or can only play for half of the time, or you know you'll be gone a few days, that's okay—just let everyone relevant know beforehand! ICly this will be handled smoothly—either your character suddenly joins the group through a trapdoor in the ceiling, or they inevitably got separated, and so forth. We'll handle/interpret it as it comes.
SPACES: The board game will consist of around 24 spaces, each one different from the next and disguised as rooms/areas/scenarios. If you majestically roll all 6's you'll only face 4 spaces. If you roll all 1's, you'll face... all 24 spaces. Let's be honest, I'LL HAVE AN IC MECHANIC TO KEEP EITHER FROM HAPPENING, so on average I'd say you're looking at anywhere from 6-8 spaces, give or take? It's up to chance! Anyway, the spaces on this board are tasks that need completed! It can be anything from "knock on that weird door and ask whatever answers for candy," or "carve a pumpkin and show everyone your results," or "you have to scare someone in your group," and so forth, so it'll be a combo of social things, interactive things, and chill creative stuff!
GROUPS: Characters will be playing in groups of 3-4! However, I've decided that I'll be randomizing groups. Much like the last labyrinth, everyone will get to see each other before the labyrinth begins, and after it's finished. The labyrinth's pre-mingle will be set-up like a Halloween party with some optional stuff to engage with on your own, in case you and your friends wind up in separate groups during the labyrinth but still want to be dumb together in a Halloween atmosphere.
PRIZES: Each character will receive a bag of treats... as well as a Halloween-inspired prize! It can vary between oddly useful to very useless.
If you play 2+ characters and you'd play both/all, please mention that! And if you don't comment because you legitimately have no idea, but it turns out you can play, don't worry—you'll be able to, I just want a general headcount before the labyrinth ACTUALLY begins. ♥'

ANNOUNCEMENTS
Sep. 30th, 2015 07:43 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
First and foremost, a general gameplan (from the modly PoV) for October! This is by no means 100% set in stone—there may be additions and changes to this plan. However, we'll always try to keep you updated beforehand!
NEXT WEEK: PLOTTY MONSTER SHENANIGANS POST
Sometime on Saturday morning I'll toss up a general Day 6 mingle, to keep the ball rolling—I'll also be tossing in a plot relevant NPC (who won't be the purpose of the mingle, but a header comment linked to from the post, so you can totally carry on as you please with day-in-the-life antics should you have no interest in tagging the NPC.) The mingle itself will also have vague hints indicating some of the events in the eventual evening mingle...
The following Wenesday, I'll toss up a Day 6 Evening/Night post in which there will be MONSTER SHENANIGANS running into the weekend. Some of it involves fighting, some of it involves not fighting. I'll have a few scenarios set-up with different ways for you to deal with some especially violent and weird things! Oooh, spooky, ooh~ If you want to engage with the nightly mingle, but you don't want to deal with monsters and the like, there will be a bonus scenario where everyone can have some harmless inn/tavern antics.
!! You are allowed to make your own posts between now and the monster post, but please keep them on Day 6. Afterwards we can progress it to Day 7 and carry on with the usual. Daze's ideal pacing is 1 IC day = around 1 OOC week, give or take (because it doesn't need to be EXACTLY a week, just a very general ballpark average,) so there's nothing wrong with days purposefully dragging on!
HOLIDAYS IN PORT PERPLEX
While the kingdom doesn't celebrate Halloween (or any real-life calendar event for that matter), they do have some festivities, fascinations, and aesthetics that closely resemble Halloween time, such as everything being pumpkin flavored, employers encouraging their workers to wear Halloween-style clothing, silly ghost decorations hanging from the street lamps, and so forth. Oddly enough, nobody native to the town will know what you mean if you mention Halloween! Weird right? Anyway, I'll be occasionally flavoring the mingles I toss up with things of the Halloween nature, because your mod is a Halloweenie, I'm sorry.
So basically, you'll see more ~ambiguous~ holiday thing to toy with like this with most seasons/holidays to come!
However, Port Perplex will still be freakin' hot as always, so no cool weather or falling leaves. Such a shame, I know.
HALLOWEENIE BOARD GAME LABYRINTH
Aw yes, from 10/21 - 10/31 I will be running a board game-esque labyrinth! It's going to be silly and spoopy, and probably gross, as opposed to straight-up horror. OTHER LABYRINTH(S) THIS MONTH
I think there will be a Particular labyrinth between now and the Halloween one! However, if things fall through, I might instead toss up a simple tattoo activity labyrinth involving optional booze and tattoo applications of both the permanent and temporary kind. If the other labyrinth is run as planned, I'll just hold the tattoo thing some other time.

some sparklee announcements
Sep. 24th, 2015 05:35 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
NEW ARRIVALS
Because I forget to prompt players to make OOC intro posts in the acceptances (I think some of us come from an rp culture where that's uncommon, or understandably reads this as a game where that's not the norm), I thought I'd go ahead and announce the new characters that have joined in! Unless you'd still rather make your own OOC post, which is quite fine, too—maybe you want both. Either way, I thought it'd be cool to make incoming characters known OOCly, so please feel free to introduce yourselves!
HOWEVER, if people would prefer that we just announce new arrivals when they come in from here on out, I can do this!
WITHOUT FURTHER ADO:

★ Bokuto Koutarou (Haikyuu! AU)
★ Kuroo Tetsurou (Haikyuu! AU)
★ Akaashi Keiji (Haikyuu! AU)
★ Kozume Kenma (Haikyuu! AU)
★ Yuuichirou Hyakuya (Owari no Seraph)
★ Mikaela Hyakuya (Owari no Seraph)
★ Shinoa Hīragi (Owari no Seraph)
★ Hubert Oswell (Tales of Graces)
★ Rio (The Wizard's Cat)
★ Tarnist (The Wizard's Cat)
...I'll find a better way to format this next time. sparklee gifs stay tho.
DARING LABYRINTH IS STILL ONGOING
Link! From tonight on out I'll be picking up my pace, and anyone is still encouraged to join in! Though I'll be tossing up a normal non-labyrinth mingle and some other endgame indicators on Friday evening, I'll continue tagging late-comers, people who just need more time, and so forth over the course of the upcoming weekend. If you think you'll need longer than that, please nudge me! It's not a problem at all to backtag this with you!
CHANNEL ON SLACK
Just as a gentle reminder, Daze has a channel on Slack (an IRC-like web browser chat.) I think the majority of us have already joined, and nobody is obligated to join if they have no interest in doing so, but I thought I'd mention this just in case! If someone needs an invite, please shoot the mod plurk/journal a pm containing your email address and I'll bug someone to get that squared away!
LABYRINTH IDEA GDOC (WITH ANOMALIES SHEET)
We now have a (hopefully) helpful Labyrinth Idea GDoc—er, spreadsheet— where players can freely toss in ideas for labyrinths (whether it's a single facet or a concept.) Labyrinths can be games, activities, challenges, exploradoras, and so on, so it can encompass a lot! By using this sheet, we can all get an idea on what we'd like to see in the future, andsteal borrow ideas from one another in case anyone wants to run something themselves. Maybe you want a tattooing activity one day, or you want to see some goofy variation of Oregon Trail. Or you want things to happen in outer space, you just don't know what.
On the sheet, which is a bit rough, sorry about that, we have a single column for ideas, and then a few extra blank columns off to the side—feel free to use this for commentary/notes/etc! And please don't feel shy about contributing! I know, I know, easier said than done. I've totally been there and heard the same thing said to me more than once. But no, really, as long as you play here, you can add to this sheet! Who knows, your desire for pirate ship antics might encourage someone to run that as a labyrinth someday.
Anomalies (IC term for status effects and the like) are there, too (accessible by clicking the tab on the bottom,) in case we have particular statuses, effects, and the like that we'd all like to see come up in a mingle someday. These, too, can encompass a lot, so if you're like "I just want a reason for my character to have cat ears but that can't be a labyrinth on its own" then HERE IS YOUR LOVELY ANSWER: ANOMALIES.

don't worry don't worry
Sep. 17th, 2015 04:17 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
From September 21st (Monday) to September 25th (Friday) will be a labyrinth! The post will go up around 12pm EST. Though it'll be officially wrapped up on Friday, if you show up late or need some more time, I can pull you through the weekend.
This labyrinth's intentions are to encourage characters to be DARING!! or BRAVE!! Imminent danger will be relatively obvious, so any harm that might come to your character will be pretty foreseeable for what it's worth. Your character can escape completely unscathed! If your character is injured, it won't be life threatening one bit, unless they are ridiculously brave and charging straight into the obvious death traps, so ymmv.
ADDITIONAL NOTE: Oh yeah, treasure quality will depend on how DARING! or BRAVE! your character is, and they'll know this. So the better they do, the better the reward.

HELLO DENIZENS OF KINGDOM DAZE.
There has been chatter for the desire for a moral exploration labyrinth, which is something I'd like to try and make happen but for maximum effectiveness (and to fulfill my curiosity) I'd like to see everyone answer a few questions!
What moral dilemmas do you, the player, find most interesting to explore? and What moral dilemmas would make your character most uncomfortable/unsettled?

AWWW YEAH, HELLO DAZED CITIZENS! I'm feeling very fast-paced exclamation mark-ish today! It's excitement!
LAYOUT: I changed the IC and OOC layouts up a bit! By which I mean a lot, they're very different from before. Hopefully they're cool, but if not give me a poke and I'll see what I can do to help! Also, If there's something you'd like to see on the sidebar aside from links to the Full Navigation and either the IC/OOC Community, leave a comment!
SLACK: Van's player has helpfully made a Kingdom Daze chat-channel on Slack! WHAT IS SLACK? Slack is a unique chat platform—ONE RESEMBLING IRC—except web-based (no installation! no opening another application—unless you're using the mobile app!) and, actually, way more convenient and nicer than IRC (...no offense IRC.) What's really cool is that you can see previous conversations, even the ones that took place when you weren't in the room, so you don't have to feel like you miss out when you aren't there. It also let's you use emotes and I think that's important, too.
Slack is invite-only, so head on over to Chizu's helpful plurk to leave an email! There's also a better explanation of Slack in that plurk. Also, there's no invite limit, in case you're wondering. Chizu is a godsend.
I hope everyone has a good weekend!
