I'll be running a labyrinth over the course of three days--from 9pm EST Friday, August 28th through 9pm EST Monday, August 31st. The point will be to progress through a series of three rooms (one per full day) by solving small sets of riddles. As such, the focus will be on discussion amongst participants as they try to figure out the answers!

There will be treasures at the end ranging from vaguely useless to moderately useful, depending on whether the riddles get solved.

Hello everyone! If you're still expecting tags from the Queen, I'll be getting back to those today and sticking to replying consistently again, sorry about that!

Today I approach you with a poll about Kingdom Daze's timing/pacing! The game still only just started, but I figured it could be addressed early on JUST IN CASE.

Does it feel like labyrinths could be happening too frequently, ICly or OOCly? Officially speaking, we are aiming for around one labyrinth every OOC week. However, does it feel like there's a bit of pressure on you by having one happen every week? Does it seem like they're occurring too frequently in game with the way that time progresses in the game so far? WHAT IF: it's changed to "a labyrinth will always be taking place every other OOC week—as well as when someone wants to wedge one in between"? Do you think it'd slow down the pace a bit too much, or does it sound good for daily-life-in-between-labyrinths shenanigans?

Labyrinths aside, we're now trying out mingles that span through out the IC day (not that we discourage making your own posts, but I think, from what I've seen, a lot of us enjoy playing in mingles anyway?!)  and then however many OOC days later (or after a labyrinth) we toss up a separate night post. This should hopefully help the pacing to prevent 1 IC day from lasting longer than an OOC week (unless we do enjoy IC days lasting that long?)

Please provide your opinion on this matter in whatever shape or form you can. I'm all for your opinions since you guys are what makes this lovely game what it is. I really want to see what the player base thinks before possibly taking a course of action! I swear I wanted this to sound less formal...

Hello denizens of Kingdom Daze!

I will be running an exploratory labyrinth that will open up Friday, August 21st at 11:59PM EST and run through Sunday, August 23rd, 11:59PM EST with a chance of extension through Monday if it seems like people would need more time.

The labyrinth itself will be an experimental one to test out some mechanics in making an explorable labyrinth that can be self-paced and still have some interactive elements within it. There'll be seven rooms total, though characters will only be able to explore a pathway comprised of three rooms. Content-wise there may be some IC distress involved if your character has a fear of drowning/burning/being buried alive/being left in the dark all alone/etc./etc., but you'll have a chance to 'cheat' and look forward to decide if you want to avoid (or go straight towards!) something that would freak out your character. There'll also be a (hopefully useful) prize at the end depending on which pathway characters choose to explore!

This post seems a little overwhelming, but I promise it's not! I hope it's not... ETA I'LL PLURK ABOUT THIS WHEN PLURK COMES BACK DARN IT PLURK.

SIGNIFICANT

!! The social bingo's turn-in has been extended until Tuesday, 12:01AM PST (ie Monday night going into Tuesday night for most of us.) I've updated the main bingo post with this new information.

• Guess what—THE TAKEN CHARACTERS PAGE IS OFFICIALLY UPDATED, HECK YEAH! If you notice any errors or the like, comment and I shall work my magic to correct it. There's also a game-wide character count at the top!

• Your characters now have tags, tags for you to tag posts with! (Why are there so many applications of the word "tag" in RP? Also now I want to change the community layout seeing how clunky the tags look oh no.) ANYWAY! As I reassured before, I've gone through and tagged any previous posts that your character engaged with, so you don't have to worry about going back and doing that. From here on out, please tag any post you play in! If you'd like for me to alter your tag, that is a can do, just comment here!

!! NO ACTIVITY REQUIREMENT THIS MONTH! I figured this would be a decent courtesy since the game just started. I mean, it's only halfway through the month, but don't sweat it if you don't meet the quota or manage to get your character out!

ADDITIONAL NOTES

• All businesses (including clinic/garrison/library ofc) now have giant windows on the front of them, either in the form of shop windows or tall fancy windows or whatever. In fact, pretend it was always like this; I'm going to integrate this into the shop descriptions after I post this, actually! Now, this is probably the weirdest thing? KIND OF ODDLY SPECIFIC?? MAYBE POINTLESS? But I thought it'd be nice to kind of... have this so, say, your character can easily notice if someone else in in a shop in a non-creepy and hopefully helpful way. IDK MAN THIS MIGHT SAVE A LIFE WHO KNOWS.

• At the top of the OOC community we now have a stickied monthly event post that will tell you what is happening this month and what HAS happened this month! Past events will be greyed out and we'll even link to the relevant posts; and if you want to run a labyrinth you can comment and we'll add it! This information will always be under a cut, that way you don't have to scroll past a giant list to see the recent posts in the OOC community. And don't worry, we'll still be announcing things, we'll just ALSO be adding them to that post!

COOL REMINDERS

We have a suggestions post! Please abuse this post and provide all sorts of suggestions, whether they relate directly to the game or are downright selfish desires for things you'd like to see happen in labyrinths (heck yeah self indulgence, i love self indulgence!) Your suggestions could even be "I want my character to have to face their fears" or "It'd be fun to actually explore and fight monsters in a labyrinth" AMONG OTHER SUGGESTIONS!! You can even just make a giant bullet list of things you want. Maybe you know a labyrinth you'd LIKE to see but you don't have the energy/means to run it, so you want to suggest it with the hopes that someone adopts the idea and puts it into motion.

On the flip side, maybe you'd like to comment on a game mechanic or suggest something or other. I can't promise I'll adhere to everything, but I'll always take stuff into consideration. To wrap it up, the suggestions post is unscreened because I thought it'd be cool for others to jump in +1 or whatever if they want, or discuss and add to it. Otherwise, if you really don't want your suggestion to be seen by others (which is cool, I getcha!) you can still shoot it on over to the email given on the suggestions page.

!! You are allowed to run your own labyrinths, in whatever shape or form you'd like to run them in! Make it an exploradora, take a game you ran elsewhere and transform it into a labyrinth, etc etc! By the end of the month we intend to have a labyrinth guide up (which isn't to restrict your ideas but moreso to help... guide, like a guide!) However, if you want to run a labyrinth before then, we only have two rules: 1) there must always be at least a sense of exploration for the character—whether they can generally interact with the environment OR they're passing through different rooms, and 2) there must always be a treasure at the end for everyone! And that's it, that's the extent of the rules to running a labyrinth.

Hello, how is everyone! This is Marie! As context for my spottiness and some of the following announcements, I recently moved into a literal cabin in the woods; internet isn't hooked up yet and my only connection for the time being is my mobile data's single bar that constantly fades in and out unless I point my phone at the ceiling. I'LL BE GETTING INTERNET WEDNESDAY THOUGH! I HOPE! Anyway, enough about me:

The general schedule for this week is as follows:
· MONDAY: Intro post for the characters to settle in! Whether they want to investigate the area or one another, it's a catch-all for intros so there's not a huge flood at first.

· WEDNESAY (OR THURSDAY IF INTERNET FAILS ME): A Queen post! You're not obligated to tag it, but the chatty Queen sure is eager to properly meet those who have agreed to help!

· FRIDAY THROUGH SUNDAY: The first labyrinth, which will come off as the least "labyrinth-y" of labyrinths. It'll be a weekend-long, ~themed~ SOCIAL BINGO in which characters will get BINGO to collect coins that can be used on a MYSTERIOUS VENDING MACHINE that will randomly dispense either strangely useful things or complete and utter junk. The curious will also have the opportunity to investigate what they can of the rooms, but it's not intended to be the main focus!
OTHER ANNOUNCEMENTS:

- For this week only you do NOT have to tag your posts! Hopefully this will be a relief, woo! But naw, I can't make tags for everyone until the weekend. When I make the tags I'll also go ahead and tag the earlier posts for you guys, so you won't have to sweat that. I'll make another announcement later so you know when you can start tagging with your character's tag!

- From here on out, applications will be processed every Wednesday!

- The taken post will not be up-to-date until the weekend, which is a bit of a bummer since it'd be cool to see who all is playing, right?! So for now...

APPLICATIONS FOR KINGDOM♔DAZE WILL OPEN AUGUST 2ND, 5PM EST,  AND WILL BE ON PROCESSED ON AUGUST 8TH!
  • Game start will be August 10th.
  • The game's character cap is 50—and it's currently 2 characters per player.
  • Canon/AU/PG/OC characters are all allowed on the basis that there is only one of each character.
  • We'll display a number count of how many apps we get on the application page over the course of the week.
  • The application window will remain open after August 8th—that's just when we'll process the first batch of apps.
  • If we somehow reach 50 applications, we'll actually close the application window.

 

"What is this game?"

This is Kingdom♔Daze, a small panfandom commentspam game that revolves around life in a falling (but hopeful!) kingdom that needs EVERYONE'S HELP to eradicate the magical, sentient labyrinths (which are more or less full of games/challenges/etc) in order to return this nameless kingdom to its glory. With each labyrinth cleared is a part of the kingdom that's released, renewed, and/or recovered. Your character's life will be split between taking care of these labyrinths, and carrying out the potentially unusual tasks of a part-time job while staying at an inn. In the end, not only will characters work together to help save the kingdom (thus earning whatever they want in compensation), they can come to understand WHY and HOW this magical cataclysm took place and caused all these gosh-darn labyrinths beneath THIS particular kingdom.

From time to time a wide range of dark elements will rear its head (particularly in the labyrinths), but overall Kingdom♔Daze is a relatively tongue-in-cheek game that will have a labyrinth to explore every week or so (you don't have to play in each one!), and an underarching plot in the longer run.
