Announcements!

Hello! This is a rather long announcement post, but for good reasons! Lots of potentially helpful updates and some small changes that HOPEFULLY better the experience!

NAVIGATION POST HAS BEEN UPDATED.

Three links were added:

Event Schedule - This is the post that was stickied to the top of the OOC community, so it's not actually new. But it's now linked!
NPC Page - Currently very simple and containing only one NPC; it'll give the basic gist of any future NPCs that also come into play!
Run a Labyrinth - Covers the straightforward basics, though I hope to expand and add resources to things maybe?!

I still need to modify the links that turn up at the bottom of the info pages to reflect these additions, and there are some very trivial things that still need clarified, but I'm a little burnt out now so I'll save that for tomorrow, SORRY ABOUT THAT. ;o;/

INFO POSTS HAVE BEEN UPDATED; GAME OVERVIEW POST HAS BEEN OVERHAULED.

The FAQ, Setting, Labyrinth, and other info pages where the changes made were subtle, have all been updated to match some of the recent adjustments we've made in the game so far, like the pacing, the fact that labyrinths actually span anywhere from a few days to a week, etc. So don't worry, nothing new has suddenly sprung up! The info pages just accurately represent the game now.

As for the overview, it's just another info page that may or may not apply to you if you're already playing, but could prove to be less confusing for those who don't play here and are curious (since the point is to give a run-down of the game to anyone who might be keen on joining in!) It's not only been reformatted to look nice, and rehashed to ACTUALLY read like an overview and not some bloated summary, it's also been updated to be relevant to the game's current state/pace/etc just like the current info pages.

ANOMALIES CAN NOW BE UTILIZED BY YOU, THE PLAYER, IN REGULAR PLAY.

Whoa, whoa, whoa... what are anomalies again? Is it the thing that has a page all of its own but hasn't even come up in play yet? Y E P. Refresher: anomalies are the IC term for status effects that are caused by the weird magic seeping up from the labyrinths. You know, the enjoyably ridiculous stuff players throw on their characters, like deaging, getting animal ears, having a disastrously honest title hovering above their head, etc, etc. Anomalies can range from cracky to kind of serious, depending on how you want to toy with it, but overall it's anything that can be immediately thrown in to spice up the slice of life.

Anomalies are NOW things that YOU can casually utilize in play! Want to make a mingle in which almost everyone who steps into town is plagued by the inability to tell the truth? Want to make a mingle that asserts that ALMOST EVERYONE now has animal ears for a couple days? Or maybe this odd inability to lie ONLY affects your character (or, at least, it seems that way.) And maybe there are times where a task can be completed in order to remove yourself of the anomaly. Perhaps animal ears are plaguing everyone until they let someone pat them on the head. Weird, right? Sometimes the weird magic of labyrinths affect almost everyone; sometimes they affect a small handful; sometimes, they only affect one person. Either way, it's affecting people more and more as labyrinths are eradicated for some reason!

Everyone's always welcome to toss up mingles if they want, but now you can add a bit of a twist if you want—and you don't HAVE to utilize an anomaly (in fact, abusing them might get old!) However, if you think a standard day-in-the-life post is a bit dull, and things have been feeling a bit too easy lately, feel free to toss something like this into play!

PLAYER'S CHARACTER CAP HAS BEEN INCREASED TO 5.

The game's character cap is still 50, but since the game is as cozily small as it is, I didn't think there was any true rhyme or reason behind having a strict max of only 2 characters per player. Many of us have but one character, so I'm not sure who this will affect, but I have heard from a few players that increasing the limit wouldn't hurt. In this sense, since I doubt anyone will have 5 characters, it's a bit like saying "there's no character limit except yes there is because the game-wide cap is still 50."

APPLICATION PROCESSING TIME IS NOW A LITTLE DIFFERENT.

I didn't know how to label this subtitle, so it's not as straightforward. Previously, it used to be that applications were processed every Wednesday. Now, I'll get back to your app a day or two after you send it—three days tops if my life suddenly gets busy when we receive your app, BUT GENERALLY 1-2 DAYS!

On this note, I squeezed in a note about reapps on the application page, too—if you drop a character and want to reapp them, all you have to do is comment with a link to your application and indicate that you're here to play them again.

I'M PREEMPTIVELY STEALING OCTOBER 21ST THROUGH OCTOBER 31ST FOR A LABYRINTH.

N-not that this means this is the soonest labyrinth coming up, BUT I AM JUST GOING TO GO AHEAD AND STEAL THAT WEEK FOR MYSELF!! That's right—a spoopy Halloweeny labyrinth, that will kind of operate like a board game, on the week+ of my birthday. It's more likely to be goofy and maybe kind of gross, but if we want some shock and horror I might toss in some of that, too.

Even though I'm planning on it lasting over a week OOCly, that won't mean that interaction will be required EVERY SINGLE DAY in order to progress—that is there as time and space for you, the player, since we have a large variety of schedules and accessibility here! It's also a test to see 1) how we can make group-related progression work without it being stressful on the players and 2) how much time is enough/too much before things begin to feel like they drag on for too long.

Anyway, more information on this will go up when it's ACTUALLY OCTOBER, because I keep forgetting it's not even October yet...

TAKE THE MORALITY SURVEY

YOU KNOW YOU WANT TO TALK ABOUT MORALS.

LABYRINTH AND ANOMALY IDEA POST/GDOC?

What does everyone think of a post (or GDoc) with a list of labyrinth/anomaly ideas? It can be things we want to see in labyrinths, whether it's just a facet or an entire thing, status effects that'd be cool to toy with, and so on. For instance, I was considering a modernized Oregon Trail labyrinth of sorts, but it'd be cool to dump this thought somewhere so others can see and be like OH THAT SOUNDS NICE, or OH I COULD DO THAT or even HOW ABOUT THIS, TOO and so on. THOUGHTS? COMMENTS?
