I DO LIKE THAT IDEA re: occasional festivities shown via the local businesses. I like that the stores are actively selling things in the most recent mingle. While currency is very /handwaves (which honestly I like since tracking currency in RP is a pain in the butt) there's still a sense that the town has an economy of its own and that players have room to play with that if they so choose.
